So this 16 Days wasn’t that hot for me. I managed to wear purple most days but my commitment to activism towards the elimination of gender-based violence was lacking. I didn’t write any pieces, I barely posted any articles, I didn’t go to any marches (I blame the weather and class schedules here) and only went to one activity. I may have to host my own 16 days.
But these three links come to you in honour of 16 Days:
1. Epistemic Violence– What it is, how it works and why we have to work against it
2. 5 steps to getting your partner to get tested for HIV. Step #5 may be hard, but there are times where “I” must come before “we”
3. In not a reach at all, gender-based violence has worlds to do with how we’re constricted by gender ideologies re: what is proper performances of masculinity and femininity look like and on whose bodies. One of those is that talking about sex is taboo. Crunksistas say far from it it! Talking about sex can lead to mind-blowing sex. Who doesn’t want mind-blowing sex?
