Thank you, Masud.

On Monday, St. Kitts lost one of its finest artists, Kevin “Masud Sadiki” Donovan. My dad introduced me Masud and his music when his album Sun Up to Sun Down was released in 2003. Since then, I’ve grown to have so much respect for Masud as an artist and as a person. It saddens me to know that there is no chance of me running into him when I return home next week – his bright smile and genuine warmth could truly turn a day around.

Thank you for the music, Masud. Thank you for the conversations. And may your life and art be a reminder of the importance of creating spaces for art and artists to develop, grow and thrive.
